Dubai continues its ambitious trajectory of urban development, marked by the inauguration of the Dubai Water Canal, the expansion of Dubai International Airport, and the launch of the transformative ‘Dubai Walk’ project. These initiatives underscore the city’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, promoting sustainability, and improving the quality of life for its residents and visitors.
Dubai Water Canal: A New Landmark

Transforming Urban Mobility: The ‘Dubai Walk’ Project
Approved in December 2024, the ‘Dubai Walk’ Master Plan aims to make Dubai a pedestrian-friendly city, promoting healthier lifestyles and enhancing urban connectivity.
- Network Expansion: The plan envisions a 6,500 km network of walkways by 2040, including 3,300 km of new pathways and upgrades to 2,300 km of existing ones.

- Smart Features: Walkways will incorporate cultural elements, greenery, shaded areas, misting systems, and a dedicated app for tracking activity and discovering routes.
Advancing Public Transportation: Dubai Metro Green Line
Further bolstering Dubai’s infrastructure is the Dubai Metro Green Line, which commenced operations in September 2011.
- Route and Stations: The Green Line spans 23 km and includes 16 stations, in addition to transfer stations (Union and Khalid bin Al Waleed) shared with the Red Line.
- Key Stations: Notable stations include Etisalat Station with a Park-and-Ride terminal for 2,350 vehicles, and heritage-inspired stations like Al Ras and Al Ghubaiba, designed to reflect traditional UAE architecture.
- Operational Details: The Green Line operates with 13 trains during peak hours and 10 during off-peak hours, with an operational timing similar to the Red Line.
These ongoing projects highlight Dubai’s continuous efforts to innovate and develop world-class infrastructure, solidifying its position as a leading global city.
