Dubai’s Compassion in Action: Community Rallies for Beirut Relief and a Child’s Hearing

Dubai’s community spirit shone brightly as residents came together for two heartwarming charitable initiatives. From young siblings raising funds for disaster relief to a collective effort providing a life-changing medical procedure, these events highlight the generosity and compassion within the emirate.

Brothers Rally Support for Beirut

Three Jordanian expat brothers in Dubai, Talal (16), Fawaz (13), and Leyth (11), launched a fundraising campaign to support victims of the devastating Beirut explosion. Inspired by the tragic events of August 4th, the brothers committed to posting 30 days of math and chess videos to raise Dh10,000 for the Red Crescent’s Beirut Explosion Emergency Relief fund. They have already successfully raised Dh6,000 through online donations via YallaGive. Their mother, Suhair Sharaf, noted their passion for these subjects and their desire to inspire other children through their charitable endeavor. Talal, an accomplished chess player and math student, Fawaz, a participant in the UK Mathematics Trust Competition, and Leyth, a recipient of numerous sports and academic awards, are using their talents to make a difference.

A Community Unites for a Young Boy’s Hearing

In a remarkable display of unity, over 100 individuals participated in the "Challenge535353" initiative, organized by I Love Supersport Dubai. This 53-hour event, coinciding with the UAE’s 53rd anniversary, saw swimmers, runners, and cyclists come together to raise Dh39,000 for five-year-old Feroz, who was born deaf. The funds will enable Feroz to receive a life-changing cochlear implant. Participants expressed their joy and privilege in contributing to such a significant cause. The event successfully covered a total distance of 2094.42 km across swimming, cycling, and running, demonstrating the community’s dedication and the unifying power of sport.
